If you find that a family member has a basic need that you can help fulfill then consider yourself blessed. This may be as simple as bringing them a meal or two, helping them to shop more frugally, giving them clothing or furniture that you no longer need, or even allowing them to crash on your couch while they get back on their feet.
Elderly people often spend a great deal of time alone. Find ways to spend more time with them whether they live with you or separately.
When it comes to your children and spouse taking time to listen to them daily and spending time with them individually every week will help you connect with their needs. This helps you meet their needs and expresses your concern and love for them.
Friendship takes work. You can be the person that helps keep things together. Consider carpooling for work or in getting each other’s kids to and from activities. Maybe help out with a home improvement project or simply getting together for a night out as a tradition.
Take a moment to look around and you will see any number of ways to help family and friends. Don’t sit back and stay absorbed in your own little world. Find out how you can help put a smile on the face of those around you. |
